Aethelfaed Assisting Roland

I've noticed that if I have Roland as main and Aethelfaed as assist, I can't use the Mounted Attack Against Monster +45% skillbook on Roland. It greys out Aethelfaed's main skill. If I moved that skillbook over to Aethelfaed, would it all work together? Or, do I need to not use the skillbook at all?
