Is this game fun for somebody who would be F2P?

Been looking at this game for a little while as a time sink during my downtime at work. At the very least it looks like the most popular version of its game genre.

However, it looks like every other game of its type (Evony, Lords Mobile, etc) so I'm wondering if it's fun, if it's enjoyable without spending money, and if it's got the community size I would expect of it considering how much it's advertised.

I can say that it is really similar to many other games. IF you have already played a lot of such games you can try this. Just for fun and interest.
